Dr. Eric Cioe Pena
Dr. Eric Cioè-Peña is the founding director of Northwell Health’s Center for Global Health (CGH) and the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine as well as the American College of Emergency Physicians’ lead ambassador to El Salvador and Botswana. He has worked in Botswana, Dominican Republic and El Salvador on health system development projects, trauma care and humanitarian assistance following the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Dr. Cioè-Peña is currently leading an initiative to unify and consolidate global health programming to be integrated and horizontally focused through CGH.
Dr. Madi Lindauer
Dr. Madi Lindauer is the Director of Global Health for the Emergency Department at Staten Island University Hospital. She was a fellow at SIUH from July 2019-2021. During this time she completed her Master’s in Public Health at Johns Hopkins. Throughout these two years Dr. Lindauer traveled to the Bahamas in September 2019 to assist with the aftermath of hurricane Dorian. She also went to Ecuador to complete a needs assessment of one of the emergency departments to better understand how Northwell could provided assistance. Her main project was in Yemen where she lived for six months to establish a prehospital care system in the southern city of Aden, Yemen. She completed her residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Masters of Public Health at Johns Hopkins. Her interest is in capacity building of healthcare systems internationally.
