As ED providers, we will have unique opportunities to help patients struggling with substance use disorder. Some links and reminders on how to help:
Order a Naloxone Kit for ALL patients with opiate use disorder to take home. (CLICK HERE for a printable info handout)
Educate families about Naloxone Kit Access, free classes on Opioid Overdose Prevention Basics, print an NYC Family to Family Recovery Guide
Initiate Medication-Assisted-Treatment with Buprenorphine in the ED and consult our toxicology team for help/questions
Provide patients a print-out of Outpatient behavioral health resources
